Mahsati Janan - Faye's Fan Veils - 15

While practicing with them I noticed that you really have to treat them more like double veils than fans, though there are a few things you can do with fans that are unique. This pic is some basic hip drops while bringing the fans down from overhead. :)

Morocco was interesting as always - she has such an incredible wealth of information and experience. I was really touched that when I came off-stage after dancing she complimented both my dancing and use of the fans very highly. It definitely means a lot coming from someone who has seen so much dance over the years!

I got to visit with Ra'eesha, Sharifa, Jessica, Reyna, Asim, and lots of other friends while we were there - really nice.

Special thanks to Onca for bringing great workshops to the area - it is always greatly appreciated! :)

oooookaaaay! so now, i totally have to pick your brains! i've been eyeing those fans and have a couple o' questions. are they by this girl? hers seem nice, but then i saw some on ebay that were ridiculously cheaper...if not, can you point me to a good, reputable vendor?

i think they look deliciously lovely, but are they hard to use? i feel silly even thinking about getting them but they keep popping up in my brain....

your pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!!

Hey hon - Thanks so much! I got mine from Faye - you can reach her at faye@faye4u.com. I wasn't sure how I would like them at first, but they are really a ton of fun to play with. Faye asked me last month if I would practice up with them and give them a try at the workshop, so I spent a few weeks playing with them and found out a few really cool things you can do ;)I figured that even had I decided not to perform with them that I was having *way* to much fun swishing them about LOL

If you can do double veil and some basic fan work they aren't too hard to use. It takes a little getting used to the built in time delay of having the silk tails and a little practice to hold them open/close them while dancing. Most of them are all right-handed, so you have to hold the right and left a little differently. As soon as I get video of the performance, I will put it on youtube.
